Prenatal Care

Prenatal appointments are a minimum of 1-hour and include: nutrition and exercise counseling; childbirth education; and comprehensive medical care including monitoring of you and your baby’s growth and vitals, lab work, and diagnostic testing. Appointments follow the standard obstetric guidelines: every 4 weeks until 28 weeks; very 2 weeks from 28-36 weeks; and weekly visits from 36-42 weeks.

Birth

As your midwives we are on-call 24/7 for you and can attend your homebirth from 37-42 weeks gestation. Typically, at the first signs of labor we will check in by phone. Moriah or Rachel will join you at your house once you’re in active labor and will remain with you continuously until after your baby is born. As your labor progresses a second assistant midwife will arrive for additional help during and after the birth. At your birth our role is to provide emotional support and a physical container of safety to ensure all is well and normal.

We periodically monitor your baby’s heart rate and wellbeing, along with your vitals. In the comfort of your own home you have the freedom to move about, including a birth tub. After the birth we stay a minimum of 4 hours ensuring everyone has transitioned well.

Postpartum

Postpartum home visits include: 24-48 hours; 3 day; and 7 days. In addition 2-4 week and 6 week office visits are included. During these appointments ensure mom and baby are healing well, baby is healthy and gaining weight, and we offer holistic and medical guidance and support.

Breastfeeding

Education and support from birth through 6 weeks postpartum. Both midwives offer comprehensive lactation support and Rachel is an International Board Certified Lactation Counselor (IBCLC).

Newborn Care

We are licensed to care for newborns through 6 weeks. We offer the following routine newborn screens: newborn metabolic screen; congenital heart defect screen; weight and growth assessments. We also offer optional prophylactic vitamin k and erythromycin at the time of birth.
